Heads germinated and veins rooted

“Heads germinated and veins rooted” Living Installation (earth and seeds)

– 2012 B’chira Art center – Tunis

-2014 Biennale of Contemporary African Art – Dak’Art 2014

The heads germinated and the veins rooted “is a living installation, composed of several germinated heads.

The body of clay is no longer a sculpture laid on a pedestal, but a body that moves, lives and dies thanks to the mixture : Earth, grog and grains of wheat.

As the seed continues to grow, the clays’ seeds continue to move until the outer shape of the sculpture is changed. The latter is transformed and becomes an “Other”, and a new “Head” appears.

When the illusion of a revolution opens the way to the expression’s freedom, the latter, for a long time muffled, pours itself into torrents through the mouths of Tunisians. The tongues relax and delight in a new taste, forgotten through the centuries. Each citizen cries out his disarray in his own way, armed with a false sense of revolution, dignity acclaims its rights, and sometimes gets lost in vanity. Then, new hairy shapes grow on the heads and chins of many, to manifest an affiliation, forgetting in this tumult, that their only real battle was the earth.
